Inter-district hockey from today

VIJAYAWADA: The 25th Andhra State junior hockey tournament will be held at Makineni Basavapunnaiah Stadium from June 3 to 6 in which 12 teams (expect Srikakulam) will vie for honours.

The tournament will be held on a knockout basis and 25 probables will be selected for a coaching camp at Hyderabad's Begumpet astro turf stadium from June 7 to 19.

After the camp, the Andhra junior team will be selected to take part in the National junior championship to be held at Chennai from June 20 to 30.

National umpires G. Harshavardhan, K. Rajasekhar and Bhavani Shankar will officiate the tournament.

Umpires clinic

Krishna District Cricket Association will conduct an umpires' clinic (for Central Zone) from June 4 at the association office at IGMC stadium. BCCI panel umpire S. Ramakrishna will conduct the classes. Interested persons can register their names at the association office on June 4 at 4 p.m. Written and practical examinations will be conducted on June 10.
