Canal repair works to be expedited

Kakinada: Several members of the Zilla Parishad have expressed their concern over the delay in execution of irrigation canals closure works, at the ZP meeting here on Saturday.

When the subject on irrigation came up for discussion, the SE irrigation informed that of the 519 canal closure works sanctioned in the district, 325 works were grounded at a cost of Rs.15.93 crores. Of them 124 works were already completed and the remaining would be completed before June 10, deadline for opening of the canals.
