RSC receives Central grant

KOCHI: The Regional Sports Centre in Kochi has received Rs 50 lakh as additional Central assistance for some of the development projects undertaken at its premises here recently.

"We've completely changed the roof of our indoor tennis centre, built a 44-bed dormitory, bought a generator and completed rain-harvesting work at the centre. The grant is from the Central Government and is being given through the State Government," said the RSC secretary George Thomas on Saturday.

Kerala Sports Minister M. Vijayakumar will hand over the cheque to the Ernakulam District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, who is also the Chairman of the RSC, at a small function at the centre on Monday evening.

Fisheries Minister S. Sarma, Kochi Mayor Mercy Williams, MLA K.V. Thomas, MP Sebastian Paul and the Kerala State Sports Council President T.P. Dasan will also be present at the function. — Principal Correspondent
