B.R. Patil says he is ready for a CBI probe into Guttedar's charges

  • Government urged to sanction additional funds for backward taluks
  • MLA says nearly Rs. 5 crore spent under the NREGS in the district

Gulbarga: Aland MLA B.R. Patil has denied allegations made by former MLA Subhash Guttedar that large-scale irregularities have been committed in the implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in Aland taluk.

"We have spent nearly Rs 5 crore under the NREGS in the district. The scheme is being implemented in 39 gram panchayats in the taluk. We have created

4.34 lakh man days, by giving jobs to 22,267 people. We have succeeded in checking migration, which was rampant in the taluk," he said.

Mr. Patil said 62 gokattas had been built in the taluk. In Kamanahalli village, 32 wells had been recharged. In Ambewadi, six gokattas had been constructed along with 75 check dams. Water level in these village had come up, he said.

    Probe

He said that he was ready for a Central Bureau of investigation probe into the allegations of irregularities.

Mr. Patil urged the State Government to sanction additional funds for the development of backward taluks under the Gulbarga division. "The Government has earmarked Rs. 125 crore for amelioration of regional imbalance based on the D.M. Nandnundappa committee report. Of this, only a small amount has been earmarked for Gulbarga division. I have written to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to raise the amount," he said.

"Everybody knows that Mr. Guttedar did not take up a single development scheme during his tenure as MLA. He is trying to leave the Congress and join the Samajwadi Party or the Janata Party," Mr Patil alleged.
