VISAKHAPATNAM: Three workers died and six were critically injured during a mishap at a quarry in Survey No. 179 near Pardesipalem on Bhimili Police Station limits on Saturday. A boulder came rolling from atop a hill where quarrying was in progress and hit the workers killing Barla Ramana and B. Krishna on the spot. S. Pentayya, 60, succumbed while undergoing treatment at KGH. The bodies were sent to KGH for post-mortem. Bhimili CI Deva Prasad and SI Vara Prasad are investigating. Meanwhile, CPI(M) leader and MLC M.V.S. Sarma expressed shock and demanded payment of Rs.5 lakh as ex-gratia.
