Left activists demand withdrawal of cases

ANANTAPUR: Activists of the CPI and CPI(M) continued their relay fast demanding house sites for all eligible poor for the second day here on Saturday. Some two dozen activists of the CPI(M) staged a novel half-naked protest from morning to evening under the scorching sun.

Speaking at the protest camp, CPI(M) town secretary V. Rambhupal alleged that the State Government was trying to suppress the land struggle by foisting cases against 1,500 party activists for their participation in the `Bhoo poratam' launched on May 13. Party leader A. Manohar demanded withdrawal of cases registered against the poor.
