Mahatma Gandhi University declares B.A. results

KOTTAYAM: Colleges in Ernakulam stole a march over others bagging 30 of the top 45 positions when the results of B.A. degree examinations at Mahatma Gandhi University during March 2007 were declared on Saturday.

Girls have cornered 37 top ranks. Maharaja's College, Ernakulam, was at the top slot with 11 ranks. The college recorded 75 per cent pass.

There were 1237 first classes, 1712 second classes and 2504 third classes.

Pass per cent

The pass per cent among the private candidates was 52.

The following is the list of top rank holders in the various examinations held: Malayalam: Anita Mathews (678 marks), Assumption College, Changanasserry; Arabic: Abdul Rauf C.A. (588), Maharaja's College, Ernakulam; Hindi: Asha Natarajan (661), NSS Hindu College, Changanassery; English: Nitya Mariam John (685), BCM College Kottayam; French: Keerthy Kuruvilla (697) St. Theresa's College, Ernakulam; History: Hinduja T.S. (632), St. Theresa's College, Ernakulam; Islamic History: Divya K.T. (580); Maharaja's College, Ernakulam; Politics: Renjini Michael (591); St. George College, Aruvithura; Economics: Deepa Vijayan (878), U.C. College, Aluva; Philosophy: Rareesh Paul (615), UC College, Aluva; Sociology: Vidya V. Pai (612), SH College, Thevara; Psychology: Anusha Salim (687), KE College, Mannanam.

Sanskrit (General): Binisha Mol N.G. (625), Maharaja's College, Ernakulam; Special (Vedanta): Meenu Rajan (605), Special (Vyakarana): Sarath P. Nath (698), Special (Sahithya): Praseeda A.P. (648), all from Government Sanskrit College, Thriupunithura.

Marklists and provisional certificates will be sent to the respective examination centres. The applications for revaluation and scrutiny should reach the University by June 30.
