RSP alleges bid to tarnish Government's image

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: The RSP has described the bid to demolish the Chandanathoppu Martyrs Memorial part of a conspiracy by the officialdom and some others to tarnish the Government's image and rupture the relationship in the LDF.

State secretary of the party T.J. Chandrachoodan said in a statement here on Saturday that the pasting of notice demanding the dismantling of the memorial, that was considered sacred by the party, which in turn defamed the party and enabled the UDF to exploit the situation could have been avoided.

Even though the political leadership intervened and discouraged the move, the workers, party men and the public were cut up over it.

The LDF and the Government were receiving popular support because of their move to evict the land mafia. Some sections were trying to scuttle it by spreading the rumour that the weaker sections were being evicted on a large scale as part of it. He asked the Government to take steps against these sections.
