Job ad draws flak

Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR: As many 16 legislators on Saturday drew the attention of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to a controversial job advertisement which allegedly had no reservation provision for Socially Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) candidates.

The district magistrate of Jharsuguda, as Chairman of the Society for Welfare of the Child Labour (National Child Labour Project), issued an advertisement for contractual appointment recently that made these legislators see red. They said, as per the advertisement, 100 per cent reservation was made in favour of general, Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, ex-serviceman and physically handicapped and sportspersons at 50 per cent, 25 per cent, 15 per cent and 10 per cent respectively.

"Does it mean that SEBC candidates are totally excluded from the purview of recruitment? The advertisement does not mention about SEBC reservation," the MLAs said in the letter.
