Stern action against negligent bus drivers

KOCHI: In an effort to intensify the drive against rash and negligent driving by service buses, the city police have started registering cases on charges of culpable homicide, which could get the convicted drivers up to 10 years of imprisonment.

Cases have been registered against three bus drivers who caused accidents in the city.

Shajan, Sunil and Santhosh have been charged with culpable homicide for causing fatal accidents at High Court junction on May 15, Kacheripady on May 24 and Vathuruthy on May 28 respectively. Erring drivers would be booked under non-bailable charges, said K.B. Venugopal, Assistant Commissioner of Police (City Traffic-West).
