Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Major Industries Minister J. Geeta Reddy has, in principle, agreed to allot land for the establishment of the Institute of Translation Research Centre (ITRC) in Medak district.

Director of Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) Lalji Singh on Saturday urged the Minister to allot 150 acres of land in Medak district for the setting up of ITRC. Dr. Singh briefed Ms. Reddy about the proposal of the Indian Council for Agricultural Research to set up ITRC with an estimated investment of Rs. 1,000 crore at Karakapatla village as part of the Genome Valley Biotech Park phase-III.

The ITRC would conduct research on diseases prevalent in rural areas in the country, genetic disorders and hereditary diseases.
