PGCET-2006: court rejects advance bail plea of accused

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Fourth Additional City and Sessions Court on Saturday rejected the anticipatory bail applications filed by four persons who have been accused of being involved in the irregularities in the conduct of postgraduate common entrance test, PGCET-2006, for medical courses.

The court rejected the applications filed by I.A. Hukkeri, the former Registrar of RGUHS; Dr. Hanumanth Prasad, an RGUHS official; and two students. Judge Sudhakar R. Pandit observed the case was in a preliminary stage and giving bail could hamper the investigation process.

The CBI has filed a first information report stating the involvement of 30 persons, including Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences P.S. Prabhakaran. On Friday, the CBI arrested a bank employee and a student.
