Thiruvananthapuram: Popular novelist and short story writer R.P. Menon, known by his pen name Pamman, passed away here on Sunday of a heart attack. He was 87. Menon was admitted to a private hospital on Saturday after he complained of uneasiness and chest pain. The mortal remains were cremated on Sunday evening. Pamman has authored over 30 novels, including Bhraanthu, Chattakari, Adimakal, Missi, Thamburatti, Ammini Ammavan, Nerippodu and Orumbattaval, short stories and plays. He has also written the script for several Malayalam films. Many of his novels were made into films.
