MANGALORE: Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. is taking up the work of replacing worn out insulators on the Varahi-Kemar 220 kV power supply line from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for six-days from Monday. A press release from Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (MESCOM) Ltd. here said this would necessitate 60 per cent reduction in load to Udupi and Karkala taluks in Udupi district to facilitate the repair work and would result in intermittent disruption in power supply. MESCOM in a separate press release said that KPTCL would also take up replacement of faulty disc insulators on the Varahi-Kemar number two power supply line from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday. This would necessitate a 40 per cent reduction in load to Mangalore taluk in Dakshina Kannada district leading to intermittent break down in power supply in various parts of the taluk. Power supply in Surathkal, Katipalla, Mulky, Karnad Industrial Area, Kinnigoli, Haleangadi, Padubidri, HPCL, Bharath Barrel and adjoining areas will be disrupted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday as MESCOM is taking up maintenance works on the 33 kV Kavoor-Katipalla-Mulki line and the 33 kV Bykampady breaker.
