Abraaj closes private equity transaction

CHENNAI : Abraaj Capital, an investment firm specialising in private equity investment in West Asia, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA), has announced the closing of the largest private equity acquisition ever in the West Asia and North Africa regions. The company has acquired 100 per cent shares of Egyptian Fertilizers Company, a private joint stock company in a $1.41 billion leveraged buyout through its infrastructure and growth capital fund and Abraaj buyout fund II. Dubai Capital Group, the regional asset management arm of Dubai Group, Saudi Arabia-based Rashed Al Rashed & Sons Group and other prominent regional firms have co-invested in this transaction, says a release.
