Chennai: The U.S.-based North South Foundation has invited applications for financial assistance from students, who had excelled in the recent Common Entrance Tests, but are financially strapped to go to college. According to a release, the Foundation will offer scholarships for engineering, medicine, polytechnics, agriculture, Ag. engineering and veterinary studies. The deadline for filing application is July 15. Applications can also be filed online at www.northsouth.org. Short-listed candidates along with their parents will be interviewed for final selection. The eligibility criteria include family income of less than Rs. 40,000 (Rs. 28,000 in rural areas), top 5% ranks in Common Entrance Tests with relaxation of 5% to rural and girl students in ranks, preference to the rank of first attempt, students coming from government or government-aided schools, first year students in the course of study chosen and students not eligible for other scholarships.
