JAIPUR: The immense scope for investments in the processed food sector in Rajasthan was highlighted at a meeting convened here on Monday to review preparations for an international seminar and exhibition on processed food to be held in Jaipur from August 29 to September 21 this year. State Industries Minister Narpat Singh Rajvi, releasing posters and brochures for the global event, said the demand for value addition in agriculture and horticulture, packing of international grade and modern technology for production could be met by improving the standards in the State. Mr. Rajvi said commodities such as coriander, tamarind, soyabean, mustard, goar gum and groundnut had good availability in the State and could be exported on a large scale. Besides, there was an enormous scope in fruits, vegetables and veterinary science. The State Government has established food parks in several industrial areas to promote food processing units. Mr. Rajvi said over 18,000 agro-based and small and medium processed food units functioning in the State were providing employment to thousands of people.
