Clean, green... and friendly

A campaign for a clean and green city is certainly laudable. But the city has to be a friendly one in the first place, says Christy L. Fernandez, Principal Secretary, Ministry of Tourism.

At a function organised in the city by the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said safety and environmental issues would get priority in a friendly city.

None would think of throwing the garbage on roads in a friendly city.

Mass tree plantation would only partly address the problems faced by the city, he said, referring to a proposed plantation drive.
