KOCHI: The 15-member team of City Police are the most sought-after theatre persons around these days. Their street play was inaugurated on Monday evening and they already have 28 reservations. The City Police have brought out the street play, as part of Subha Yatra, to spread messages on safe and sane traffic. The play depicts the life of a boy, from his birth to youth, and the impact of his breaking traffic rules. The 30-minute play is meant to sensitise the public about hazards of careless driving. "Already we have started getting invitations from schools and residents associations. We had planned to run the show for a week, now we are wondering whether we will be able to stop after a month," said Manoj Abraham, City Police Commissioner. The team performed at a couple of schools and at Durbar Hall Grounds on Tuesday. Residents Associations have come forward to stage the play at their meetings. The play is being staged at an improvised platform on a vehicle. "The actors find it difficult to present the play more than three or four 4 times, as they need to speak on high pitch most of the time," said Mr. Abraham. The play is part of the police's efforts to tighten the enforcement part of traffic drive, with an increase in number of cases being registered on traffic offences.
