A police officer's fight for truth

The film `Khakhee,' directed by Bibin Prabhakar, attempts to tell the story of an honest police officer's action against criminals and how they retaliate by disrupting his family life. The weak storyline makes little impact on the viewer. But there are some well-conceived scenes giving expression to family relationships in a touching manner. The script is by T.A. Shahid.

Unnikrishnan (Prithviraj), a sub-inspector, is in the news for razing nearly 500 acres of illegal ganja cultivation in the forests of Wayanad. In retaliation, the ganja smuggler attempts to kill Unnikrishnan, but he escapes. Unnikrishnan gets a transfer to the police station in his hometown where his brother Ramakrishnan (Mukesh) works as a head constable. While Unnikrishnan is hot-headed, Ramakrishnan is just the opposite. When Unnikrishnan joins them, Ramakrishnan, his wife and children are leading a contented life with their father Balakrishnan (Nedumudi Venu). Soon the situation changes.

The uncompromising Unnikrishnan arrests a local politician (Jagathy Sreekumar) who is also Ramakrishnan's father-in-law on charges of molesting a young girl. This incident leads to a rift in the family. Balakrishnan accuses Unnikrishnan of disturbing the peace in the family and orders him out of the house.

Meanwhile, the ganja smuggler plots to do away with Unnikrishnan. He bribes the witnesses in the case to give false evidence against Unnikrishnan.

The smuggler continues his vengeance against Unnikrishnan, leading to a tragic incident affecting the family.

The cast includes Janardanan, Mammukoya, Sudheesh, Meera Vasudev, Bindu Panikkar and Bheeman Raghu.

While Saloo George cranks the camera, music is scored by Deepak Dev.
