New Delhi
Food connoisseurs of the Capital can now look forward to a lavish spread of French cuisine. Sopexa, the Food and Beverage Marketing and Promotion Board of France, the French Embassy in New Delhi and the French Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries will jointly host the fourth edition of "Aperitif a la Francaise" at The Nikko Hotel here this Thursday. Held globally each year across different time zones on the first Thursday of June, "Aperitif a la Francaise" is an opportunity to re-live and re-discover the variety and simplicity of French culinary heritage and fine spirits. This international festival will offer a wide assortment of French dishes for the patrons of fine living. Ceremoniously flagged off at the Eiffel Tower in France on May 30 this year by the French Agriculture Minister, the Delhi chapter of the festival will provide a wonderful insight into various aspects of French food that are often unknown. It will bring alive a typical market space dotted with stalls of cheese and dairy products, forest mushrooms, berries and vegetables accompanied by the finest French champagne and syrups. French performers will entertain visitors with dance sequences, accordion, percussion and piano presentations. The organisers intend to give Delhiites a peep into the French lifestyle. "Aperitif a la Francaise" will continue through June at select restaurants in Delhi. -- Madhur Tankha
