New Delhi: Koneru Humpy, double gold medal winner in chess at the Doha Asian Games, has emerged as the eighth contender for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, the country's highest sporting honour. Humpy's father Koneru Ashok has been recommended for the Dronacharya award and Harikrishna for the Arjuna award. Others in the race are, Indian cricket skipper Rahul Dravid, tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi, pugilist M.C. Marykom, golfer Jeev Milkha Singh and three shooters Manavjit Singh, Samaresh Jung and Gagan Narang. NRAI has also recommended Tejaswini Sawant, Avneet Kaur Sidhu and Vivek Singh for the Arjuna Award. Meanwhile, the Indian Women's Hockey Federation has recommended India internationals Sumrai Tete and Jyoti Sunita Kullu for the Arjuna award. PTI
