Sharp launches high definition LCD display system

BANGALORE: Initiating the first mover's advantage in a technology that it has pioneered, Sharp Business Systems (India) on Tuesday announced its India launch of the large-sized high definition LCD information display.The company hopes to garner 10 per cent of the HD LCD display market by 2010 when it is estimated to grow to Rs. 850 crore.

With multiple application capability in corporate, engineering design and medical sciences, Sharp would be offering 46 inches, 52 inches and 65 inches heavy duty HD LCD information display, said Sunil K. Sinha, Chief Executive, Sharp Business Systems (India).

Sharp plans to market the product through its 300 nation-wide distribution network as well as directly through its corporate sales team in the metros.

With its seamless applications, Sharp is working on more models like Multiview LCD and Mega Contrast Resolution LCD (contrast ratio of 10,000:1). It recently exhibited the largest HD LCD Display of 108 inches at the CeBIT exhibition in Germany, Mr. Sinha said, adding that the Plasma screen's largest size had been 103 inches so far.
