VIJAYAWADA: The Penamaluru police on Tuesday conducted a raid on a brothel and rescued two minor girls, besides arresting four persons, including a woman, on the charge of forcing a girl student into prostitution. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) N. Ramachandra Murthy, addressing a press conference, charged Ponnarusu Krishna, Kollati Raghuramayya, Divi Srinath and Tera Swapna - all residents of Yanamalakuduru and in the age group of 25-30 years - with forcing the 20-year-old girl, a resident of Kamayyathopu and a student of lab technician course, into prostitution. The girl left home on Saturday night following a wordy duel with her mother and boarded an auto-rickshaw driven by Ponnarasu Krishna to go to Pandit Nehru Bus Station. On the way, Krishna observed the mood of the girl and struck a conversation. He promised her a shelter and took her to the banks of the Krishna. When the auto-rickshaw reached Benz Circle, Krishna's friends Joshua and Durga Rao (now absconding) too boarded the auto-rickshaw. Mr. Murthy charged Krishna, Joshua and Durga Rao with raping the girl and handing her over to Swapna, who was running a brothel. The next day, Raghuramayya and Srinath went to Swapna's house and took the girl to the banks of the Krishna, where she managed to take the help of Madhavan Arasu, a kung-fu trainer, who was conducting classes on the riverbed. Madhavan took her to the police station and lodged a complaint against Swapna. The police handed over the girls to Childline, an NGO.
