VIJAYAWADA: K.V. Krishnam Raju, a Professor of Pathology in Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada, on Tuesday assumed charge as Vice-Chancellor of Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences. He said opening a digital library on the university premises would be one of his priorities. Secretary to the Government (Medical and Health) P.V. Ramesh, who officiated as in-charge Vice-Chancellor following the retirement of R. Sambasiva Rao, handed over the charge to Prof. Raju in the VC's chamber. A graduate in MBBS from the Rangaraya Medical College, 56-year-old Prof. Raju worked as principal of the same college for three years from June 2003. He also worked as member of the NTR-UHS executive council and the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council. Unveiling his plans to improve the facilities in the university, Prof. Raju said he would identify the problems in the university and represent the same to the State Government.
Ragging
Prof. Raju said he would bring pressure on the managements of private medical colleges, where the infrastructure and facilities were not up to the mark.
