Coimbatore: Chandigarh's Rahul Bakshi shot a level par 72 to emerge the leader in Category `A' (15-17 yrs) in the third leg of the Sunfeast Southern India junior/sub-junior golf championship here on Tuesday. Jaipur's Amanjyot Singh was one stroke behind the leader at 73 followed by Rashid Khan at 78 for the third spot. Bakshi had a great day firing four birdies, two each on the front and back nine. A first tee starter, the Chandigarh youngster opened up with three consecutive pars followed by a birdie on the fourth and bogies on the 5th, 7th and 8th. It looked pretty hot at this stage but Bakshi kept his cool to birdie the 9th to turn at one over. The return journey was one better. Bakshi managed birdies on the par-5 13th and par-3 14th. But a bogey on the 16th saw him level at par-72. Category `B' (13-14 yrs) witnessed a good contest between Rommel Mazumdar and Raghav Bhandari. The duo finished the day at five over 77 to share the top spot. To popularise the game at the grassroots level, the sponsors have come out with an innovative initiative the Sunfeast Day-Out on Wednesday. The scores (after 18 holes): Category A (15-17yrs): Rahul Bakshi 72; Amanjyot Singh 73; Rashid Khan 78 and Kapil Kumar 79. Category B (13-14 yrs): Rommel Mazumdar and Raghav Bhandari 77; Ashbeer Saini 78 and Chikkarangappa 80. Category C (11-12 yrs): Abhishek Kuhar 84; Vashista Pawar 86; Rahul Ravi 87; Tarundeep Chadha 88. Sports Reporter
