New Delhi: The Centre on Tuesday confirmed the abduction of 12 Indians, including two women and two children in Nigeria, belonging to private company Indo Rama. The Managing Director of the company is also among the abducted people. The External Affairs Ministry said negotiations were being carried out by the company while the Indian High Commission is facilitating the evacuation of families whose kin have been kidnapped.
Evacuation
Family members of Indians working for the company in the Rivers State of Nigeria have been evacuated to Lagos in the wake of kidnapping of 10 compatriot employees there five days ago. All the abducted people, including Indo Rama's Managing Director Arun Taneja, are reported ``ok'' and the Indian government is in touch with the Nigerian authorities to facilitate their early release, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said. The High Commission is facilitating safety of the remaining 40 Indians in the state and their movement, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said.
The High Commission has also issued an advisory cautioning Indians there about their security and travel. ANI, PTI
