Bangalore: South African Graham Ford, shortlisted for the post of Indian coach, found warm words and some welcome support from Mickey Arthur, the South African coach who is here as coach of the African XI for the Afro Asia Cup. Talking to the media on Tuesday, Arthur said Ford and Indian skipper Rahul Dravid had similar traits. "Graham is a fantastic coach and we are very similar in our coaching styles. He can do the job for India. He can be a motivator, he does the hard work. He can be just the coach India requires at the moment. "Rahul's and Graham's traits are pretty similar. He will probably be very special. Good luck to him if he is offered the job," Arthur said. On Monday, Dav Whatmore, widely tipped to take over as the Indian coach, was eliminated from the race. Principal Correspondent PTI reports from London: Ford had his passage further cleared on Tuesday with Kent County Cricket Club permitting him to hold discussions with the BCCI. The English first-class side, with which Ford is currently Director of Coaching, said it hoped he would honour his contract which runs until next year. ``Graham (Ford) has a contract with Kent until the end of the 2008 season ... we have allowed him the opportunity to travel to India to find out more about the role (of India coach). Graham has done a fantastic job for us and needless to say we very much hope he will stay with the club,'' Kent's Chief Executive, Paul Millman said in a statement.
