HYDERABAD: Morshed Coaching Centre recorded a solitary goal win against Quli Qutub Shah Centre to enter the semifinal of the Gotla Cup football tournament here on Tuesday. The match-winner was scored by Shahabuddin Shahbaz. In another quarterfinal, Deccan Coaching Centre also scored a 1-0 win against Red Hills. Zeeshan scored the winner.
Easy for SCR
South Central Railway scored a 6-1 win against Nav Bharat Club in the A-1 Division hockey league championship at Begumpet Police Stadium here. Mohd Aleem netted a brace while Prabhakar Singh, Chennappa, Mayur Subbaiah, Ayyappa Swamy struck once each for the winners. Suresh Singh reduced the margin for the losers.

James Sr. XI scored a comfortable, 3-0 win against Bolarum in the Sachdev Sports under-13 football tournament, organised by Shastri Soccer Club, at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here. Waghray shines
Waghray clinched the honours in the boys' under-12 race of the Kayaking and canoeing competitions held as part of the conclusion of the annual summer coaching camp organised by Kayaking & Canoeing Association of Andhra Pradesh. The event was sponsored by P. David Christopher, chief coach of the State team. The results: Boys: Under-12: 1. Waghray, 2. Jai Chandra, 3. Sumanth. Girls Under-10: 1. Ananya, 2. Chinmay, 3. Srinija. Under-15: 1. Nitika. Mixed category: Under-5 years: 1. Deepan, 2. Vaishnavi.
Gupta & Sainath triumph
D.N. Gupta and D. Sainath clinched the barometric pairs event with a score of 65 points, in the bridge tournament organised by Dr. V. Badekar at Maharahstra Mandali here. P.J. Faria and C.D. Kumar (51 points) finished second while, C.P. Singh and A. Prabhat Kumar (34 points) finished third. In the Fateh Maidan Club pairs event, N.S.N. Rao and N. Anand clinched the honours in the North-South direction with 184.12 points while C.V. Rao and Dr. K. Srinivas (182.65 points) and K. Srinivas Reddy and P. Kejriwala (176.81 points) finished second and third respectively. In the East-West direction, K.J. Rao and Suresh Farsinavi (203.69 points) stole the show while Dr. J.M. Rao and Sajid Hussain (200.90 points) and M.V. Subba Rao and G.V. Rao (192.50 points) settled for second and third places respectively.
Big win
TCS recorded a 78-run win against Satyam in the final of the Maytas Properties first-ever indoor corporate cricket tournament at Hi-Tex International Convention Centre (Madhapur) here. Ratnakar of TCS was named `man of the final' and the `player of the series'. Test star V.V.S. Laxman gave away the prizes.
Tennis tournament
The third Twin Cities mini and junior tennis tournament for boys and girls (under-10 and 12 years), organised by Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, will commence at SAAP Tennis Complex from June 7.
YMCA table tennis tournament
YMCA of Greater Hyderabad, Narayanguda Branch, will organise the 69th Annual YMCA A.P. State open ranking table tennis tournament for men, women, youth boys and girls, junior (boys & girls), sub-junior, cadets, mini cadets (boys & girls) on its premises from June 6 to 8. PE conference
Nizam College will host the two-day All India Conference on `Latest trends and technologies in sports and physical education' on June 7 and 8. About 300 delegates including Prof. David Jackson, Director of Sports, Leeds Metropolitan University, UK, Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Deputy Secretary of AIU (Delhi), who will deliver the keynote addresses, will attend. On the occasion, the OU Physical Education journal will be launched formally by Sports Minister R. Damodar Reddy.
