KANNUR: Freedom fighter and Communist leader M.P. Narayanan Nambiar was cremated at his village, Kallyasseri, here on Tuesday. Narayanan Nambiar, one of the founder leaders of the Kerala Karshaka Sanghom, died at AKG Hospital on Monday night. He was 92. He had been in the hospital for the last few weeks due to age-related ill-health. The freedom fighter had plunged into political struggles at the age of 15 by participating in the Salt Satyagraha march to Payyannur in 1930. After a brief stint in the Army, he took to political activism. He had been drawn to the Communist movement through the socialist movement in the Congress. he mortal remains were kept at the Bank Auditorium for the public to pay their last respects to the leader. Minister for Revenue K.P. Rajendran; Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader E.P. Jayarajan; A.P. Abdullakutty, MP; Communist Marxist Party leader M.V. Raghavan; and Bharatiya Janata Party leader P.P. Karunakaran paid homage to the leader.
