Rioters sent to jail

NEW DELHI: A city court on Tuesday sent 25 persons to jail on charges of indulging in rioting and damaging public property besides hurling stones at policemen during the "Delhi bandh" on Monday. Their bail pleas would be taken up on Wednesday.

The alleged rioters were arrested at Mehrauli in South Delhi on Monday and were produced before Metropolitan Magistrate B. K. Gautam, who sent them to judicial custody till June 18.

The court said the bail pleas of the accused could be taken up only by the court concerned on Wednesday.

The accused have been booked for rioting, asaulting public servants on duty and mischief.
