BHUBANESWAR: Public sector coal extraction company Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL) on Tuesday expressed serious concern over obstruction in its mining activities following people's protest at the Bharatpur Open Cast Mines (OCM). The MCL said imminent closure of mines of Talcher Coalfields loomed large due to the disturbance at Bharatpur. "The daily production of Talcher Coalfields has dropped from the targeted production of 1.40 lakh tonnes to 1.06 lakh tonnes, a statement by the company said here.
