HYDERABAD: Several places in North Coastal Andhra and Telangana received heavy to moderate rain on Tuesday even as summer heat continued over other parts. The rain has been attributed to an "upper air circulation" over the sea near Visakhapatnam. A senior official of the State Met Office said the monsoon remained static after advancing up to Karwar in Karnataka. Under normal circumstances, it would have touched the State by now. During the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 a.m., Kalingapatnam recorded a heavy rainfall of 7 cm. Paderu, Parvathipuram, Tekkali recorded a rainfall of 5 cm each, and Bobbili, Prathipadu and Sompet 4 cm each. A large number of other places in Ranga Reddy, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts received around 2 to 3 cm each. At the same time, day temperatures remained high at some places in the State. Khammam turned out to be a hot spot by recording the State's highest day temperature at 44 degree Celsius. According to a forecast, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari districts would receive light to moderate rain on Wednesday.
