SENSE OF ACHIEVEMENT?: Followers of Minister Sambami Chandrasekhar greeting him after he took charge at his chamber in the Secretariat in Hyderabad on Tuesday. - Photo: Mohd. Yousuf
HYDERABAD: Fortyone days after he was sworn in as Minister, Sambani Chandrasekhar occupied his official chamber in the Secretariat on Tuesday. Mr. Chandrasekhar, who holds the Health and Family Welfare portfolio, is the last among the 17 Ministers to occupy the chamber. The delay is attributed to the late allotment of the chamber in the `L' block by the General Administration Department after the Minister made a vain bid for an office in the comfortable `D' block. Alterations to the chamber at his instance also took time. A large crowd of his followers from his native Khammam district and elsewhere thronged the chamber to witness Mr. Chandrasekhar being blessed by Vedic pundits as he occupied his seat. Among them was Khammam Zilla Parishad chairperson Gonela Vijayalakshmi The first file signed by the Minister related to release of Rs. 1 crore to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Kadapa. The Minister said the delay in occupying the chamber, did not, in any way, affect his functioning.
