"Plastic Kadavul" on June 18
"Plastic Kadavul" is the twelfth production of United Visuals. It is written by playwright C.V. Chandramohan, whose earlier play, "Vaasthu Vasu", was a big hit.
T.V. Varadarajan, actor and director of the play, described "Plastic Kadavul" as `Card'-ial comedy dealing with the misuse of credit cards. "When we talk to people on their reasons for liability, they don't have one except that they accepted a card or a loan that was on offer. We are like Abhimanyu trapped in a `loan vyuham'. At least Abhimanyu was killed in a battle, but our people, when they find no means to settle the dues, go to the extent of committing suicide." The humour in the script is meant to provoke positive thinking, prod viewers into setting out real priorities in life and learning to live contentedly with available resources. The play was given the title by veteran director K. Balachander, who according to Varadarajan, has been a source of motivation and guidance.
Veeramani Raju, a singer popular for his devotional songs, has rendered two songs for the play. "Plastic Kadavul" will be staged on June 18 at Narada Gana Sabha for Kartik Fine Arts.
