HEALTHY FUN: Clowns are just what the doctor ordered.
BANGALORE: There is hardly anything that can compare with a good giggle to make you feel better when you are sick. This is the principle adopted by Docteur Clown, a France-based, non-profit organisation, which aims at soothing and helping ailing children recover through humour. Clowns trained by Docteur Clown, France, work at hospitals and are paid for their services by the respective managements. They have a good sense of humour and entertain ailing children through songs, dance, magic tricks, animation presentations, acrobatics and the like.
Objective
Their aim is to put young patients at ease by introducing a new element in the doctor-patient relationship that involves humour and fun-filled activities. The concept has already been brought to India, and now a workshop will be conducted by Alliance Francaise de Bangalore on Saturday.
Trained
The first batch of Docteur Clowns in India, who were trained by their chief mentor Severine Blanchet of Docteur Clown India Inc., will conduct the workshop in the Alliance Française de Bangalore auditorium between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Participants will get an opportunity to share the stage with the trained Docteur Clowns and Ms. Blanchet, who will present a fundraising show the same evening. They will perform "Miss Rose and the Magical Treasure" from 7.30 p.m. Tickets for the workshop are priced at Rs. 300.
