BANGALORE: Following the suspicious death of the former Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer at a hotel in West Indies during the recent World Cup, the Bangalore police have made unprecedented security arrangements at The Grand Ashok here, where the cricketers, who have come down for the Afro-Asian Cup, are staying. Highly placed sources in the city police told The Hindu here on Tuesday that several close circuit television cameras have been installed in the hotel, particularly in the lobby of the floors where the rooms of the players are located. Besides, the hotel authorities have been instructed to strictly follow certain measures to ensure the safety of the players, coaches and members of various cricket bodies, who are staying in the hotel. The police have conducted sabotage checks and deployed several policemen, including those in plain clothes, at the hotel. Security has also been stepped at the Chinnaswamy Stadium where the matches for the tournament are being played.
