Man arrested on theft charge

NEW DELHI: A 20-year-old security guard of a Tata Indicom showroom has been arrested at Giri Nagar here on charges of stealing a motorcycle and two mobile phones.

According to the police, Farid was arrested at Subhash Khand on Tuesday when he came to sell the stolen motorcycle. During interrogation, Farid purportedly told the police that he had stolen it from the parking lot of the New Friends Colony showroom using duplicate keys. He also allegedly confessed to having stolen two mobile phones. The phones have been recovered at his instance, the police said.

Three held on burglary charge

NEW DELHI: Three young men have been arrested for alleged involvement in a burglary at a factory in the Naraina Industrial Area here this past month. The police claim to have recovered stolen property worth Rs. 20 lakh from them.

The production manager of a factory lodged a complaint with the police alleging that printing blocks worth lakhs of rupees had been stolen from the premises. Suspecting an insider's hand, the police interrogated the security guard of the factory, Yogesh. He purportedly confessed to having committed the theft.

At his instance, the police arrested Kaushlender and Jai Ram to whom he had allegedly sold the printing blocks.

Held for supplying counterfeit notes

NEW DELHI: Two young brothers have been arrested at Mayapuri here for allegedly supplying counterfeit currency notes. The police claim to have seized fake notes worth Rs. 29,450 from them.

The accused, Riyasat and Najakat Ali, are residents of Dhanora in Uttar Pradesh. Acting on a tip-off that they were into supply of fake notes, a decoy customer contacted the duo. They demanded Rs. 100 for four fake notes of Rs. 50 denomination. Subsequently they were arrested. Apart from the counterfeit currency notes, the police also seized a country-made firearm from one of the accused.

Robbery-cum-murder accused arrested NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old man wanted in connection with a robbery-cum-murder case in the flat of a judge in Patna last month has been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police at Majnu Ka Tila here. The Bihar police had announced a reward of Rs. 25,000 on his head.

The Inter-State Cell of the Crime Branch recently found that Anil Singh, who was wanted for allegedly committing a robbery and a murder in the house of Sadhna Srivastava, was a registered bad character of the Geeta Colony police station and was involved in at least 18 criminal cases in the Capital.

On May 20, Anil and his accomplice Vikas allegedly entered Ms. Srivastava's flat, murdered her guest Suresh Mehto, threw the body down from the eighth floor and fled with the booty. While Vikas was arrested, Anil managed to flee.

On the tip-off, the police intercepted the bus in which he was travelling with his wife at Majnu Ka Tila here and arrested him on Tuesday afternoon.
