NEW DELHI: The southwest monsoon is all set to advance again, after remaining stagnant for one week. There are positive signals from the Bay of Bengal region, indicating that the system is likely to advance over northeastern States during the next three days, a spokesman of the India Meteorological Department told The Hindu . As regards the west coast, he said there was no firm signal yet from the Arabian Sea but there seemed to be a possibility of some development in the coming days. The system seemed to be regrouping itself in the Arabian Sea region after it was disrupted by the formation of a cyclone. Some positive signals might be expected over the next few days as the cyclone crossed over the Arabian coast in Oman. In the meantime, there could be an increase in rainfall over the south Peninsula along the west coast as also in some interior areas. There could be isolated heavy rainfall over coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep over the next two days. In north, there appeared to be no early end to the hot and humid weather. Day temperatures were likely to increase further over Delhi and other parts of northwest during the next two or three days. Central India was also likely to get hotter during the next two or three days.
