NREGS audit from June 11

Bidar: The State Government will conduct a social audit of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme at the gram panchayat level in the district from June 11 to 14.

The decision follows complaints by some non-governmental organisations that the scheme was not being implemented properly in Bidar, Government sources said.

The process of audit involves reading out the list of works taken up under the scheme and the names of registered labourers, publishing the list in the gram panchayat notice board and giving them the scheme's details, including the wages and other information.

Gram Sabhas should be organised in every Gram Panchayat where the scheme is being taken up. Accounts of funds spent should be made public during such sabhas. The whole social audit process should be videographed, said a press release issued by the Chief Executive Officer..
