Four killed, eight hurt in auto-lorry collision

ANANTAPUR: Four passengers were killed and eight others injured when the auto in which they were travelling collided with a cement-laden lorry near Tagarakunta village of Kanaganapalli mandal in the district on Wednesday evening. The injured were admitted to the Government Hospitals at Dharmavaram and Anantapur.

According to the police, the auto was on it way to Kanaganapalli and the lorry was on the way to Kalyanadurg when the accident occurred. Two passengers D. Pedda Kullayamma (60) and H. Suresh (23), a degree student, both of Tagarakunta died on the spot.

Another passenger V. Venkatamma of Thimmapuram in Kambadur mandal succumbed to injuries in the hospital at Dharmavaram and V. Rajanna (30) in the General Hospital here. Two of the eight injured, whose condition was stated to be critical, were shifted to the General Hospital here and the remaining were being treated at Dharmavaram.
