Tough time for some students

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Some students with provisional 2nd Pre-University marks cards attested by their college principals had a tough time at the CET Cell when they turned up for medical/dental counselling on Wednesday. They were told to return with the original marks card during the casual vacancy seat selection round, although the Pre-University Department was yet to issue the originals. For students from outside Bangalore, travelling all the way to the city again was going to be tough. Parents of some students with high ranks (the counselling was for medical ranks 1 to 2,000 on Wednesday) wondered why they were asked to pay the fees and book a seat when the admission was not final. "I have come from Raichur. Although my daughter's rank is within 50, the admission is provisional. Why should I come again for the casual vacancy round?" asked a parent. The CET Cell could have verified the attested marks statement with the marks database available with the department, said another parent. The problem was pronounced for candidates who had applied for revaluation.
