Warning to footpath vendors

Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: District Collector N. Ayyappan has warned against parking of vehicles on footpaths. In a press release on Wednesday, he said action would be taken against vendors who appropriate footpath space. Because of footpath encroachments pedestrians were forced to walk on the road, even in stretches with wide pavements, he said.

The Collector said haphazard parking of vehicles was a major cause for traffic jams. He said all footpath encroachers would be evicted soon and added that hoardings impeding traffic would be removed.
