Girl found dead

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Mystery shrouds the death of Ishita Bansal (20), a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) student, who was reported missing since Tuesday.

Ishita's body was found hanging from a tree in a secluded area in 2nd Stage BTM, on Bannerghatta Road in MICO Layout police station limits on Wednesday.

The police said Ishita was a sixth semester student of BCA at Surana College near South End Circle in Basavanagudi. She was the daughter of Rajneesh Bansal, a businessman and a resident of J.P. Nagar.

Mr. Bansal had filed a complaint with the J.P. Nagar police on Tuesday that Ishita had gone missing, the police said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (MICO Layout) M.B. Rajendra Prasad told The Hindu it appeared that Ishita had committed suicide by hanging herself with her duppatta on Tuesday night. There were no external injuries on the body and no signs of resistance.

The gold jewellery she was wearing was intact and her handbag was lying near the tree. A mobile phone number was written on a slip found in the bag. When the police called that number, one of Ishita's classmates received the call. When the classmate was informed of the incident, she came to the spot along with her mother and identified the body.
