Poll bill in Nepal Parliament

Ameet Dhakal

KATHMANDU: Nepal's Government on Thursday tabled a bill in Parliament to amend the interim constitution to facilitate Constituent Assembly (CA) elections to be held in November.

The bill seeks amendment to the constitution allowing the Government to set a date for the poll sometime in November. The constitution currently says the poll will be held in June. The bill has also proposed to give sweeping powers to Parliament to abolish monarchy by two-thirds majority if the king were found conspiring against the poll.
