CARING GESTURE: Children, who are selected by an NGO for free education till Class 10, along with DLSA and Bar Association members at Anantapur on Thursday.
ANANTAPUR: Chaitanya Seva Trust, a non-governmental organisation set up by several retired judges of the High Court at Burgula village in Mahabubnagar district, had selected 40 children below 10 years of age from poor families in the district for providing them an opportunity of free education up to tenth class. Representatives of the trust have taken 32 children along with their parents to the NGO from here on Thursday by transportation arranged by members of the Bar Association of Anantapur. The remaining eight selected children have been given time till the month-end for joining the scheme. The parents would return in the same vehicle after dropping their children in the NGO. Transportation was arranged by two members of the Bar Association N.C. Sampath Kumar and Y. Ramalinga Reddy. Several other advocates also expressed their willingness to lend a helping hand to the children selected by the NGO in their own capacity. The 40 children were selected out of about 100 attended for the purpose last month purely on the criteria of poorest of the poor.
Free boarding
The children who were being deprived of education due to poverty were chosen for the rehabilitation scheme. They would be provided free education along with free boarding and lodging facility by the NGO till they complete tenth class. Representatives of the NGO and Secretary of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) K. Prasada Raju said the NGO set up by the retired HC judges was working with an aim to light up at least a few lives, who were groping in the darkness due to poverty, by providing the path of light - education. The children would be admitted to the classes as per their comprehension.
