Court fines bank staff

VILLUPURAM:
The Judicial Magistrate Court-II here has imposed a fine of Rs.1.32 lakh on four former employees of the Thirunavalur Primary Agricultural Cooperative Bank for an economic offence committed in 1987.
According to K. Saravanakumar, Inspector of Commercial Crime Investigation Wing, the then secretary of the bank V. Soundararajan, cashier K.M. Rajaram, clerk G. Narayanan and attendant P. Vinayagam had jointly misappropriated Rs. 35,770 from the bank through fraudulent means.
According to a complaint filed by the then Deputy Registrar Sivasankaran, the staff had forged the documents to draw the money.
