BANGALORE: Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Thursday appealed to Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram to create an "IT and BT infrastructure fund" by earmarking a certain percentage of revenue generated by IT exports. Participating in the inauguration of the Bangalore Bio-2007, he appealed to Mr. Chidambaram to extend the tax benefits being given to the small and medium IT and BT companies which have registered with the Software Park of India, for another 10 years beyond 2010. He said the location of a large number of BT companies from different segments was an indication of a heterogeneous cluster of life science firms in Bangalore.
