HYDERABAD: Bharatiya Janata Party national secretary N.Indrasena Reddy on Thursday demanded the dismissal of Minorities Welfare Minister Mohd. Shabbir Ali from the Cabinet, alleging that he was responsible for the lack of action by the police against culprits involved in the recent incidents of violence in Kamareddy in Nizamabad district. At a press conference here, he alleged that the police have beaten up protesters in Kamareddy on Thursday for agitating against a fresh incident in which one person was stabbed on Wednesday and had to be hospitalised. Alleging that the Minister was encouraging trouble-makers, he demanded Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy to drop him from the Cabinet.
Old promises
Referring to the launch of the integrated action plan for farmers by Chief Minister on Wednesday, he said that there was nothing new in it and the same old promises were repeated. He said that agriculture was faring better in neighbouring States like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Gujarat and Kerala as MSP for various crops and power supply was better. He challenged the Government for a debate on the comparative performance of agriculture in Andhra Pradesh vis-à-vis those States. He also faulted the Government for including the expenditure (Rs.1,250 crore) incurred on purchasing power in the total subsidy of Rs.4,260 crore for agriculture.
