New Delhi: The Supreme Court has refused to entertain a petition filed by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee seeking to expedite the CBI probe into alleged criminal activities of Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. A Bench consisting of Justices Arijit Pasayat and D.K. Jain said the Punjab and Haryana High Court was already dealing with the matter. The petition referred to certain alleged criminal acts of the Dera chief, who was recently in the thick of a controversy over his donning attire resembling Guru Gobind Singh.
Contoversy
On June 4, the Bench refused to entertain two separate petitions seeking the court's intervention in the controversy, saying the High Court was already seized of the matter.
Protection
Accepting the reasoning of the court, the Dera Sacha Sauda withdrew the petition, in which it had sought protection of its property in the wake of an ultimatum given by the Akal Takht to vacate the premises and stop its activities across the country. PTI
